Usually just the human and political aspects on it. Seeing things that are real struggles and real issues in the world tackled in a slightly more exaggerated but still very real way in these fictional universes is extremely interesting.
I like the philosophical aspects of it as well. Just, the "what if" scenarios with the slightly more advanced tech. Lilims/AI with bodies are a good example, which usually is a direct metaphor for racism while still having sci-fi like elements.

at first i thought that cyberpunk was an aesthetic just like steampunk. but then i watched some episodes from max headroom and just like >>724806 said, i realised its potential.
the show was advertised as "20 minutes into the future", and it think it summarizes cyberpunk very well.

I want to know if Hollywood programmed us over years to like cyberpunk/synthwave or if it was a natural shift in trends
