How this Coronavirus will get us close to the Cyberpunk?

It is a fact that the world will never be the same after this pandemic. The old entertainment industry will collapse, including sports events and tourism. Digital entertainment will be on the rise. Are we getting close to our beloved Cyberpunk dream?

Vaccinations will fix tourism and sports events. Shaking hands probably won't get a comeback but that's for the better anyway.

Brace for id2020, that's the real fucking cyberpunk

>>644182 handholding is for degenerates, so this is a win.
The black death had to Thanos half of the world to end feudalism and that took it's time. Silly beer flu has to step up her game if we want Kowloon back.

Well, I disagree. Yeah, it will definitely have an effect on the world, but nothing drastic. I get that you just want irl cyberpunk, but really. Everything will go back to normal afterwards, unless COVID becomes like the flu. It that case, the world will be exactly the same, but with 2 versions of the flu. It really isn't a big deal.

Perhaps this epidemic will be the "Great Filter"(it's a theory go search it) but some countries are actually combatting the virus pretty well which unlikely will be. After this epidemic humans will likely "improve" their medical tech so it might be possible for a tech breakthrough perhaps. Personally, I wish for augmentations tech. I want to see humans to not fear inborn defects and improve physical strength.

>>a5f29b > "Nothing drastic"
Lol the virus managed to infect millions in just a few months and is only accelerating, you need to be delusional to think that the world will remain the same after this. The world as we know is going to end and everything will be much worse.

>>645049 Your post is just a lot of hyperbole without any substance. Give us at least one example of how the world will be radically different after the vaccines roll out.
Some countries might stick with their draconian practices even after this is over, true. But I doubt there will be any drastic changes. People will travel, go to sport events and date just like before.

>>645049 You're really calling me delusional for not being paranoid, overly negativity, a consumer of outrage media and desperate for cyberpunk to become reality? I'm sorry bro, but I think that might be you. The world obviously won't be identical, just like after everything else, and just like with everything else we're gonna recover just fine and get back to more or less the same place we were before, but with even better medicine.

>>2dc838 how long do you think it will take to develop a vaccine that is safe, effective and affordable? Even if you assume that Gilead will somehow create a magical vaccine out of their ass in 6 months that is enough time to infect and drown everyone in their own bodily fluids because of exponential growth.
Also yes, people will basically give up on life and start taking last trips because the sickness and death will be inevitable

>>af1437 be glad that I havent call you handicapped lmao, I am not trying to be rude but you are coping too much. Rich people might recover but average joes and janes like us are completely disposable. Majority of humanity will simply perish

>>645118 You wouldn't be fully wrong in calling me handicapped, so I don't mind. I just thing you aren't coping well enough. Think about all the good someone would get for mass producing the vaccine and making it affordable enough. Also, I live in a country with probably the world's best or second best healthcare, so I really ain't tripping. We'll get through this shit just fine.

>>4e92e2 I dont like humanity all so this whole pandemic is like watching an entertaining movie for me, who do you think that is capable of achieving something like that though?
I live in a shithole from Middle East so I know that I am guaranteed to be screwed over. The only difference between me and you is that I am just going to be fucked over by corona-chan faster than you, your healthcare system cannot last forever after all

>>645125 Eh. I'm optimistic and quite like people. I guess we're just different.

>>af1437 yeah but I think the end of humanity will be better for everyone tbh, even if the people manage to survive this disease only wageslavery and cyberpunkish dystopia awaits them

>>645116 It'll take about a year. What of it? You're still just posting hyperbole with absolutely no explanations.

>>645116 Except most people who get infected survive the disease and many don't even have symptoms. Your claim that the virus will "drown everyone in their own bodily fluids" is just ignorant and downright dumb. At least follow the news.

after disease, there won't be much difference in people's daily lifestyle, but economy will be huge influenced. And economy will change many things, it's hard to imagine but the day that cyberpunk comes true is still far.

>>2dc838 a year of a disease that is extremely contagious and can kill you easily without medical care. What can go wrong? Bro use you pattern recognition
>>900a88 by "survive" do you mean leaving with perma lung damage which will kill you in the case of reinfection? What "news" are you talking about? Last time I checked they were telling people it was a nothing burger, it is just a flu that will never spread but here we are.

>>645165 I think I'll base my decisions on something a bit more scientific than "bro what can go wrong".
The virus doesn't necessarily kill and if you've had it once you're immune. People getting reinfected still isn't confirmed and proper news sources are pretty honest about the dangers. Don't cherry pick your sources.
It won't turn this world into some kind of apocalyptic cyberpunk dream like you seem to baselessly believe.

If we're careful, the virus won't kill 2% of the population, a vaccine will be developed, and everything will go back to normal. If we're not careful, the virus will kill 2% of the population, and everything will go back to normal. What makes you think sporting events, tourism, and the old entertainment industry will collapse? I'm still going to travel once this is all over. I do agree that we might see more people using digital entertainment after this than before, though.

It's really about profits being put over people -- epidemics aren't some new phenomenon in human history - there was little preparation despite our knowledge that this was bound to happen. This and the risk of greater government oversight tracking our health.
