Its more of his interpretation of the human subconsiousness and tgus it is super relativistic and more loose then any scientific research but in you go from behavioral studies then you see that what he says is partialy responsible for out decisions, we dont act exaclty like freud implies but we do think the way he emplies in our subcon

Idk too much about Freud outside the penis envy theory (how little girls subcontiously want their dad's dick and only settle for other adults and that's how they develop a healthy relationship with sex), which I imagine is not what's going on.

| Freud had (and still has) some valid points. Like many scientists in his era (most notably Charles Darwin and Marx/Engels) his work was perceived as something new and revolutionary because it contradicted many religious/ideological crap people were told for a long time by the old authorities.
But people found a way to abuse such "revolutionary" theories thanks to systematically misinterpretion and/or dogmatization.
Funfact: Lots of the religious crap was once "revolutionary" too.

Of course this still means there are theories that are more (or less) likely or useful than others (which also always depends on the situation).
