Okay, but how does this solve sex trafficking? They just purged content from unverified creators. Hell, one of Pornhub's very own partners was in the trafficking business. Not like the verification process is hard either. Selfie with name on paper, easy.
I mean I agree this is a good step but I feel like this'll do more against piracy than against trafficking in my opinion.
All that said I'm not seriously complaining. It's just like "Oh darn, well there goes that. Well, anyway"

Companies have been purging non verified content all over the internet under the excuse of protecting someone or something and in all instsnces they purged things that had nothing to do with the actual problem.
The hub is another instace of that, wich is terrible, give some more yrs and people will have to starting using the deep web to be able to actualy post something .

It's to remove the videos of victims of this shit being abused, and stopping the people who did that shit from making money off it. Since they most likely didn't actually delete but removed it from the public there's a decent chance that this will be used to identify the people who made the videos as well, and then report them to authorities.
Even if it only helps a few victims, it's still worth it.

>>724497 Sounds pretty stupid to release your illegal activities on a rather famous pornsite. Like is this a thing that actually happened or is it like how neopuritans say all porn makes you a participant in it.
Post number #724499, ID: 28f4c6
|
Sure if there is actual data to show. for some reason, criminals use this site for their activities in a public very active, very visible space. likely watched by US Fed. That with all that circumstances they somehow use this, in a way that for a long while made it successful, and that the only solution was to purge like 80% of their videos. If that was literally it. Ok, but be sure to admit you were too incompetent in the first place and do something for the people you damaged.

And i would rather that. then it being neopuritans who say all porn is involved in that by being some inspiration. Or if its bdsm claiming its "encouraging" the same way that GTA encourages vehicular omnicide (no data). These types-of people who say prostitution should be illegal because "it encourages rape" despite the fact rhode island accidentally legalized it and saw sexual assault and std reports go down. The type of people who say "men rape therefore sex is bad"

>>724497 Right, but as I said, Pornhub's very own partner had videos of victims on their site. If this porn purge happened earlier, those videos would still be on the site. See what I'm saying? Most of the people that reupload the stuff probably aren't making money off it, but those that are immune to the purge, GDP, would have been and still would be profiting. Hell, who knows what other companies are partnered with PH and are involved in trafficking and are immune to the purge
Post number #724507, ID: 81e261

PH still sucks eitherway. They don't actually care, they're doing this to save face. There were signs of GDP's crimes way earlier but only when GDP was charged did PH act.
Post number #724517, ID: b81847

>>28f4c6 It did actually happened. Did you also know that illegal porn is commonly distributed by people on sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well? Big site and "watched by feds" doesn't mean shit, because authorities don't give a single shit about it and there's way too much content out there to keep track of.
So fuck off with the little narrative you made up in your head about Christians trying to take down PornHub or some shit, because this shit is real.
Post number #724525, ID: 14c76f

The purge was needless and caused more harm than good, didnt solve shit and removed a lot of original stuff.
If they actually cared they would have made a mass search instead of being lazy and purging 80% of the content.
The want to spend the least amount of money even if it costs their community, reputation and revenue.
They only did that to plese credit card companies.
There is no good intention here.
So fuck pornhub.
Post number #724532, ID: b81847

>>724525 "It caused more harme than good": - Removed videos and images of rape and other illegal sex crimes that the perpetrators were profiting off - Some porn videos have to be reupload
Yeah, nah, definitely more harm than good. I feel bad for you. Have to wait to watch that one video you liked 3 years ago.
I'm not trying to defend the company btw. I don't like them. But saying that this has caused more harm than good just shows how ignorant and privileged some cunts are.
Post number #724535, ID: 14c76f

>>724532 if they could have built a team to search for those videos but they didnt then they indeed used a plan that caused more harm then good.
They could have done it the best a most secure way but no, they were lazy.
They damaged their community, reputation and even revenue so it casued more harm than good for everybody except the the victims of those videos and the people who dont use the plataform.

>>724559 well I think that if they could have done a better job they should have done it and spared everybodys suffering.
It was just a porn tab but that doesnt make it any less valuable, they could have not destroyed it but they did, not for a greater good nor for some sort of justice, they did it cus they were lazy corporate boot lickers.
Post number #724561, ID: b81847
|
>>724560 >suffering Fucking suffering dude. You don't know what that word means my man, I'm sorry. If you think rape victims should have to suffer even more than they already do for even longer so you don't "suffer" from having to type 3 words into a search bar when you wanna get off, then I'm sorry homie. You've had it way too good for your own good.
Post number #724562, ID: 14c76f

Thinking that people should just shut up and accept such actions just because it protected some people, especially when they could have done better, is just enabling those cruddy actions.
We deserve better and the victims of those videos deserve better.
So the backclash is very much fair, 80% of the site was gonne just to get rid of at most 20% of those 80%, this is bullshit in too many levels.
Post number #724563, ID: 14c76f
|
>>724561 how many times will I have to tell you?
THEY COULD HAVE JUST MADE A TEAM TO SEARCH AND BAN THOSE VIDEOS WITHOUT REMOVING 80% OF THE CONTENT!
There was no need for the purge.
No one is defending rape and no one is saying those bad videos should stay on the site.
Post number #724564, ID: b81847
|
>>724562 Fuck off homie. Of course there are always better ways to do shit, but complaining isn't gonna change shit, and saying that they should have spent more time before taking action so they could put together people to manually go through shit and just let all the fucked up shit be out there and continue hurting the victims over what could be weeks or months, that's just selfish.
Post number #724565, ID: b81847
|
Think about it this way:
If they spent a long time, setting up teams of people to manually going through shit to try to find videos like that, on a site that has insane amounts of content and gets new shit uploaded constantly, they most likely wouldn't have been able to find and remove everything, and people would have continued to distribute and share more shit just like they did.
Post number #724566, ID: 14c76f
|
>>724564 pornhub is the selfish one here, they have billions of dollars, they could easelly pull that off, they already have a manual only team to deal with DMCAs
Post number #724567, ID: 14c76f
|
>>724565 guess what? If thats how it happens then whats the point of the purge?
If they can just keep posting those videos in mass quantity whats the point of even bothering?
They purge and then a new wave comes, tottally pointless, nothing solved, nothing done, millions of people loose content and no one is happy!
Post number #724569, ID: b81847
|
>>724567 The purge is to get all of it down at once while working on finding the illegal shit and separating that from that legal shit.
It's the exact same thing as what you described, but instead of letting people share and watch the illegal shit while they're doing it, they have it unavailable.
If someone raped you and filmed it, would you prefer that it was made unavailable as soon as possible and that they worked on shit in the background, or that it's out there for longer?
Post number #724570, ID: 81e261
|
>>724567 Think you misunderstand the purge. It's not just purging all unverified content, but it also restricts who can upload videos. Unverified users can't post videos now, only verified ones can so it's less likely that a "new wave" comes.
But anyway, think you gotta chill dude. You said your piece
Post number #724572, ID: 14c76f
|
>>724570 thats already fucked up in some levels, only letting verified users post is elitist in some way.
Not only that but if the verification requirements are like >>724456 said then making so only verified accounts can post is still not solving the problem, if 20% of the accounts that post that shit are verified then there still a huge influx of rape and assault videos on the site, and imagine if 60% of the bad accounts do the verification process? Alt accounts can also exist
Post number #724575, ID: 14c76f
|
>>724569 verified accounts can still post, did they even say that they were separating the videos? Or you are just hoping thats what they are doing? If you knew that they were doing it true then why didnt you say it earlier?
The moment something is posted someone already downloaded, copyied and has shared it somewhere else on the deep web. The moment something is deleted people will find a way to bring it back, it doesnt really matte rin the long run.
Post number #724578, ID: 14c76f
|
If their plan was to bring the purged, but not ilegal, videos back and also stop the trafficking videos they would put the site down for a while, so no more videos are posted, run a mass search with a prepared team and revise and reform the verifications and upload requirements.
They can afford to do that, if they cared for the victims they would have done that.
Post number #724579, ID: 14c76f
|
They only care about getting the credit card companies on their side again.
Instead of thinking on a way to solve the problem they only decided to take quickest and cheapest solution that would give them the "I tried" Award from Visa and mastercard.
Thats the point Im trying to get across, I wont defend such scummy lazy actions just because they are in theory helping rape victims especailly because they can actually help them.
Post number #724581, ID: b81847
|
I know you're desperate for attention, but just calm down now, aight? You're not even trying anymore. Your argument now literally just boils down to "why do anything at all if it doesn't solve all of illegal porn distribution ever" which you then follow up with saying "if they cared for the victims they would". Jesus Christ bro. Protesting on an anon forums against the way PornHub went about helping rape victims is a tragic hill to die on.
Post number #724582, ID: b81847

>>724579 I know what your point is. I do. And I partially agree with you. But saying that what they did was useless and your "solutions" and the fact that you very clearly just want to ignore the positives and view what they did purely in a negative light is retarded and just straight up fucking annoying.
We've heard eachothers opinions. Now let's both let it be, okay?
Post number #724590, ID: 14c76f
|
>>724581 what attention would I gain from argueing here?
Im not ignoring the "good" things because if you wanna say that Im doing it then you are ignorig the bad things that these actions are causing or at least diminishing them as irrelevant.
Post number #724592, ID: 14c76f

If you wanted this convo to stop you would have said it already.
My opinion is that I dislike lazy solutions to big problems whats yours? That as long as they are doing something that has a good porpouse it is fine to take innefctive actions just to please others?
Post number #724595, ID: 14c76f
|
Also you are calling me out for making a discussion on a anom board but then why are you even bothering? I like discussions and I like to exchange information, if you cant answer how you know that they are just gonna purge the bad videos and bring the good ones back later then you arguement was already beaten and you ran out of options, you are the one not trying anymore.
Post number #724598, ID: 6fc8a9

>>724563 that's the problem, how do you tell the difference between revenge porn and a vid uploaded with consent? or if the participants are underage or not? let's say you find a sketchy vid where the woman looks asleep or drugged, how do you know if it's real or an amateur couple acting out a fetish?
Post number #724599, ID: 6fc8a9

>>724598 cont there's millions of videos on ph, hiring "a team" to comb through will never be effective. requiring verified accounts to upload is the fastest way to do this
also: get it out of your head that ph is doing this with "good" intentions, they're doing it to get out of any future lawsuits. if they could still get away with making ad revenue off real trafficking vids, they would, but things are different now that people are realizing ph isn't a wholesome hip porn corporation
Post number #724600, ID: 14c76f

>>724598 dude, it wasnt just amateur tag that got purged, animations, hentai, drawing comps, Hgame gameplays, porn memes and a bunch of nsfw stuff got shafted from the site.
>>724599 if they can afford to deal with dmca manually then they can afford to mobilize mass manual search, not only that but they can even incentivise people to report videos that they find unsettling for revisuons if they dont want to create a team

And about the good intention part, I know they dont have good intentions, I of all people here have stating this the most, its just that they are using the "stoping rape videos" card to please the credit card companies.
