Reports on DT

| Hey guys, it's me; F here.
Probably noone even remembers who the hell I am so let's just not worry about that part, still.

On here today to break down how bad shit still is in DT, let's talk a little.

So, first off; Plates how many are gone? Truth be told that's still kinda hard to know, but according to the reports I've >>>borrowed from the Reaction unit on site... loads of em, five or more atleast, most are street plates tho, so no hab-plates got wrecked.

| Well, I mean some could have been wrecked, but I like bein' hopefully optimistic, three plates are in Jinston, seems to be the ones that fell when terrorists attacked the Ex-Commissioner's convoy, two days ago;; hopin' he's alright.

The three others are in Watson, near the water-front; some dumbasses blew up a gas station near one of the really old plates, and it couldn't handle the tremors so the road side plates crumbled, ruining most of the water pipes below.

| That's the big problem right now, Water; since so many pipes in the districts affected, (which are also burning btw) got fucked, wellll..... they have to ferry water in from outside the district; the GCFFD isn't putting out anything fast enough cause they can't get any water access; there's also the matter of stragglers and stuff still shooting at them and all, mostly cultists and cracked up runners.

| The water shortage is bad, but thankfully since they were Evacing a lot of folks, not a lot of people are still there to enjoy not having water... the bigger problems are the areas that weren't Evacd, like Jinston; which is taking shit hard. it's bad down there right now, real bad, loads of people are in trouble cuz of the fire and all the dust and shit from the crumbling plates.

Ambulances are having trouble reaching cuz the roads are fucked and all, Fire trucks too.

| And, well most people can't really just walk the streets what's with the stragglers and the fires, smoke and dirt and shit yaknow?

So we have a big mess, bad drek and all that...

The worst part though... well that's the illness. See the reason why this all went down in the first place was because the BCPD was actually doing it's job for once, they were quarantining people and getting their healthy relatives away:

| Thus, most of the folks that were left in the blocks are sick and weak; Apparently the illness they're trying to contain wasn't airborne but spread through nanites, some kind of weird virus thing; bad for those who catch it, but not SUPER virulent like the plague we got back in the days; not that most of you'd remember... annnyway; the people stuck there right now aren't only possibly injured; but also REAL sick, so take a bad day and make it hell.

| As we're speaking they're finally putting in the work to clear the streets, saw some of the boys in Exos cleaning the debris out, I think it was the 002-Divison? whatever it was, Ambulances are getting in, and so are the WK convoys meant to keep em from being shot...
My guess is: if you work at an hospital, prep yourself to either be transferred to NSFM or GCPD Mem, and get a shit ton of work, cuz they're gonna come in all at once.

| This has been F, I'll try to keep you guys updated here for more info... if anyone reads at all.
-F

| Sheesh F I didn't know this was still going on. My boss told me it was all a hoax. Keep safe g/u/rl. I'm honestly surprised I've not seen another report on the Augmented Eye

| >>979785
I think the AE got cold feet, the whole zone is locked up after-all.

| >>979810
Ofcourse they did. Why do I even pay for the subscription anymore. But Thanks for the update. Any idea is this virus is going to spread. It is in lockdown afteral but I've seen plenty of shady people go in flashmobs to Downtown

| >>979747
This is highly abnormal. I know it's abnormal. I don't care. Tell me more about these nanites if you can. I will pay you.
-Aweiz

| >>979817
My guess is yes, especially considering any effort to quarantine is bound to fail, tell me how many people are homeless or displaced in DT right now? The disease might not be airborne, but nanites can make their way into a lot of places, SINless people don't have to worry, but even the homeless are chipped here, the nanos are everywhere. It's only a matter of time before some one finds some route that hasn't been locked down and goes out into the night.
-F

| >>979822
You won't like what I have to say.
-F

| >>979834
Of course I won't. That doesn't make it less important.
I want to help and I can't do that ignorant.
-Aweiz

| >>979836
Suit yourself.
The nanites are carrying an illness called "Human Chlorification Syndrome" as the name suggests, it's a pretty gruesome illness. It /can/ be cured in it's early stages by getting a nanomachine bleed, I.E: getting rid of your nanites. But the moment you start developing symptoms; you're fucked out of luck.
11 yearss ago there was a big outbreak in Uptown iirc, people back then called it "Red Eyes Disease" because that was the first sign you were too far gone.

| The illness makes your nanites begin to "organize", it corrupts them and forces them to start using their power as a processing unit, they start running out of fuel since they weren't made for this, and thus start "deconstructing" their host to get the power they need to keep reproducing and make fuel to live. This process slowly but surely "hollows out" their host, who is kept alive by the nanite, which start filling the role of organs, the host grows weaker by that point.

| It basically makes the nanites take over your whole body, emptying you and leaving only a by-product: Chlorine. You start going crazy by then, and many host report "hearing" the newly constructed swarm inside of them talk. Most die by that point, but others start shambling around, they're long gone but the nanites keep the body around like some kind of "Shell".

The theory is that the swarm is slowly but surely becoming "Concious" and trying to expand using the host as a Vector.

| It's kinda like... a variant on Cyber-Zombies, but way worse for the infected.

Either way, it's bad, really bad.
Oh, and also, it /might/ be able to infect machines too, never got around to figuring that out during the last outbreak.

-F

| >>979843
Hmm. How did they handle it 11 years ago?
-Aweiz

| >>979849
They burned down the whole ward where they put the sick.
It was a small case that time, and they didn't have to deal with Terrorists and Coups, nor PMCs, the BCD just wiped it off... but it musta missed a spot.
-F

| >>979850
I'm not sure what I expected. Corp-town. Okay. Thank you for the information.
I said I'll pay you, so DM me a throw-away cred-code. I'll wire you something decent.

I have an idea, but I can only see it working on extremely early cases or the non-infected.
We'll figure this out.
-Aweiz

| >>979851
Keep your creds omae, it ain't worth that much, plus if it can help any of you guys set this shit back, I'm happy to help.

My only regret is not knowing more, since you know, most of the research we had on it was burned up, it is what it is...

-F

| >>979855
...Wait did you personally do research on it or...?
-Aweiz

| >>979859
I /did/. I got my arm cut off for it, and almost burned to death, better times.

-F

| >>979863
I see. Would you do it again? And this time with someone in your corner?
-Aweiz

| >>979971
I'm not dipping my toes into that shit again, sorry pally, not interested in becoming an asset either.
I'm good with ssharing what I know, but you got some more actively smart people out there I'm sure.

-F

| >>979977
Certainly I have people I can rely on. I also just don't want you to feel as if no one appreciates your efforts. If this is enough for you, I'll respect that.
-Aweiz

| So, Cyber Zombies but weak and frail? Why not get the Dynamoslop signal and just get the old heads who fucked em in the airport to take care of this mess?

| >>980438
Do you work for the boys in Yellow or something? Got the same thought processes

-F

| Nanites devouring their hosts, huh? Is the virus being transmitted from chip to chip like a worm, a unified signal or something more bio-like? No matter the type; we'd need a sample to develop any sort of cure or countermeasure.

Could be nice to know what other instructions the swarm carry; I doubt whoever has the skill to pull shit like this just wanted to turn people into pool supplies.

-O.Kurisugawa

| >>980701
The virus is apparently self-replicating itself into the chips, locking out all access before rewritting the instructions. The short wave emitters are what seem to transfer the bug, meaning you need to be really close to someone who has it to be infected yourself.

As for the instructions, nobody knows, could be a failed bio-weapon, that was the working hypothesis we had back then.

-F

| >>980703
Then the best bet would be to analyze the code and devise a firmware or firewall of sorts to selectively block out the signal or prevent the rewrite. Again, without the OG worm though, shit's pointless and even then: distributing a patch like that would be a nightmare.

Guess I'll get to work on what I can manage. If anyone on the board finds a clean copy of the virus, send it my way. Consider this a bounty, we can discuss money when there's confirmed goods.

-O.Kurisugawa

| >>980704
Might wanna swing by the auction then, some razors got some of the bugs in a cage; selling it to the highest bidder.

-F

| >>980726
If you've got a way for my sorry ass to get over 1 mil in creds; you better speak up right now. Still, those jackasses are really gonna price hike this shit, huh?

Went off the Corpo grid ages ago, and even then they didn't pay me nearly that much, wonder where these freaks are getting their money.

-O.Kurisugawa

| >>980754
True that. I ain't got deep pockets myself, slept in a gutter for three years.

-F

| ...Well big guess who that falls to then...Ugh.

>>980704
Are you serious about this? If you can get a clean copy, you'll do this?

-Aweiz

| >>980767
I can't promise anything; but I worked for 20 years making nanites and nanomachine software and hardware for corps across America, Japan and Africa. Whole job was making sure these things were shelf-stable and incorruptible, so I'm at least competent enough to give it a professional try.

If shit like this is allowed to spread, it'll be bad for everyone; so either whoever put this up is genuinely mentally crippled or they have their own cure already.

-O.Kurisugawa

| >>980901
It's both, more than like. It's usually both.
-Aweiz

| >>980903
Chip truth isn't it?

-O.Kurisugawa

| >>980901
You won't find shit.
Nobody remembers the first cases, but those were almost 40 years ago, you think no one else tried to do something? They did, and they failed. It's fucked, we're doomed.

| >>980909
> A copy of the virus, well contained and prepared for examination finds its way into Kursiugawa's possession.
> 'No More Fires.' The subject says...

| >>981352
Keep your doomposting to your little black notebook, edgelord. The moment you give up is the moment you should kill yourself.
>>981426
Got something; keep you posted.

-O.Kurisugawa

| >>981458
He's right though. First cases were in Nevada 40 years ago, and the CDC dropped the ball heavily, not to mention the GC incident 11 years ago. Who are you to say you're better than all those that came before to try and solve this whole mess?

Last I checked, you got no cred.

| Ignore them. Do what you can and let me know if you need further assistance.

All they're looking for is valueless validation in their choice to give up. It's funny. If they turn out to be right they don't even get the pleasure of it meaning anything.

They just get to be right about potentially dying and doing little to actually make a difference in the little closed up boxes they call a world they've locked themselves in.

-Aweiz

| Not to mention, if this person did check anything they did so with their eyes closed. Can't even pay attention.
