danger/u/

Today marks the start of literally anything else.

| Today, I told my boss at /burg/brand that I was tired of being a wageslave, and I quit my job. I'm tired of being used as a corporate tool, and I'm tired of standing idly by, letting the corps do whatever they want. I'm done.

My name is Cody Foss, and today, I spent my last paycheck to buy a Canon-GoPro Hero 4K camcorder (I know, drek quality, but I had to budget), a fake press pass convincing enough for a corp shill, and a Beretta 9X pistol.

I'm going into freelance journalism.

| I have no clue if this is gonna work. This may be the craziest thing I have ever done, but it is better than standing idly by and doing nothing.

Worst case: I die trying to do the right thing, which is better than living a worthless life.

Best case: I expose a corps activities and actually help make this city a better place.

In my head, it works perfectly. This is better than anything I have done up until this point. I'm going to make a difference, or die trying.

| If any of you have any leads you want me to follow and explore, please, reach out to me here. I will frequent danger/u/ often. This place has had some reliable info before, and I hope that you guys will trust me enough in time to chase the truth as hard as I can. I have yet to prove myself, but I will in time.

I swear it.

-Cody Foss, new freelance journalist.

| First thing's first Cody, get yourself an alias asap. Or corps will have your head on a stick before sunrise of whatever day you get even *slightly* incriminating evidence. Don't meet people at your home address, don't give out your home address either. It's really not that hard to stay relatively incognito.

I don't do drama and big stories. I just fix AUGs. Good luck.
-RaIn

| >>555157 An alias, hm? Interesting... And for now, I don't even have a home address, I live out of my van right now, so.
-Cody Foss

| Hello Foss, welcome to the world of freelance journalism! Keep in mind, the home you no longer pay rent for and the '57 Marina van you drive remembers you and that c-store where you get that Victory Valkyrie energy drink has cameras. Now, if I'm even partially right: you're in a lot of trouble that I help people with professionally. If I'm wrong, then you have no need of my services or assistance. Have a nice night, Foss.

~NeoC

| It's good to see people actually doing something that matters in this world. I typically don't get involved in this type of matters. But if you need anything related to weaponry or some kind of fire support, you can try to ask me for help. Otherwise I wish you a good day.
-Impulse

Wew you certainly know how to make the life lessons hit hard. -CN

| >>555255
Rather it was me coming down on someone than an HTR team or a "Human Resources Consultancy Visit". Plus, unlike my old peers, I actually offer reasonable rates that aren't just usury. That said, gold star to >>555247 for offering their services.
~NeoC

| >>555286
That's fair, either way, I know you mean more good with that then any Corp just spying on people. -CN

| "If you want to make enemies, try to change something."

-Edge

| >>555213 Not a home, and not a '57 model, but I can't deny the Victory Valkyrie energy drinks I buy from JC Eltons. Gotta say though, you should know anyone living out of a van doesn't have the funds to pay for those sorts of services, NeoC.
>>555247 Thank you Impulse! I may take you up on that one day.
>>555310 If that's what it takes, I hope to make plenty of enemies, trust that.
-Cody Foss

| >>555296 watch what you say, you'll giv4 me a bad name! ;)
>>555314 I take payment 'in kind', one has to more oft than not when zenny isn't on the table. Sometimes I need an eager reporter to get yo word out; sometimes I need info that can only be found with good old legwork. So I'll let the offer stand.
>>555310 Still true today as it was back then. Doesn't matter if you work in a basement or the 71st floor.

~NeoC

| >>555326 Well, let's say you did have something for me to put some legwork into. I'd be willing to do said work for free if you offered me leads, as long as I could compile it into a report for the media later. The government won't do anything about corporate corruption because, well, the corporations own the government, but they'd be forced to act if I could incite true public outrage, and often times, the truth is capable of doing just that.

What say you?
-Cody Foss

| Good on you i suppose OP

Just uh, Probably wasn't the best Idea to tell everyone where you live and what you live in.

Especially without a alias
>IA

| >>555355
Its part of proving myself trustworthy. I want to show you, the people, that I'm not a shady guy, and that you can trust me. This doesn't mean I don't have my secrets, of course, but I prefer the genuineness of having a real name, and showing people that I'm a real person. The alias idea is...interesting, to be sure, but I think my public persona is important to be accepted by the mediacorps I'll need to make swoon over me if I want to get the truth out there.
-Cody Foss

| >>555357
Hmmm an interesting idea.
Quite respectable in a sense yes...

Well then if thats the course you desire i can only ask that you be careful.

And a word of advice, put into some semi edgy poetry for the lulz

This city is an abyss that swallows people like you, it dosen't have to be immediate, but its inevitable, *especially* types like that.

A candle that burns twice as bright is quenched twice as fast, so take care,
For the night is darkest when the moon is young

| Yesssss i always wanted to use the line about the moon

Anyway, take care
>IA

| >>555348 I'll shoot a trio of stories you can work on. The data I'm sending you are the leads. Chase these down, get results, and you can wink at the camera all you like with certain private security concerns looking out for you. Fail: you'll just have to figure your own way. It's hard but>>555361 has it right, and as I said before: I'd rather you got the hard treatment from me than the business end of angry corporate.

| >>555361
The city swallows all of us at some point, friend, and for the semi-edgy poetry, I quote an old-world musician: It's better to burn out, then fade away. Thank you for your support.
>>555363
Thanks for your help! I'll chase these down and see what I can find. If anything comes of the stories you linked me, I'll even give you a share of the profits. Let me see these files...
>Cody opens the files.
Which lead do you recommend I start with, NeoC?
-Cody Foss

| >>555368 A certain Izakaya is a milk run story. Just need to know something other than what corporate media says: which amounts to "the beer is nice". Very uninformative and unhelpful for my purposes. But, I think looking into them will be a nice start for you...

| Next one is more serious and legitimately hard: a certain motel, according to corporate news: went through "radical redecorating". I spent an hour of my life watching a panel of shills talk about bullet holes being the new ironic trend. Be careful with this one...

| Last is the most dangerous and I advise you secure an armed guard who works the streets. Not some high schooler with a taser and Hope's to make mummy corporate love them again. I'm talking someone who has been shot at and has killed someone. That one takes you to the Flooded District. Corporate ain't sending thier bright and beautiful to see what happened. But I know something happened there recently. I just need to know what...

| Oh, and if any smartass g/u/rls in here give my little reporter a hard time: just remember: I have a long memory and a strong sense of street justice: don't pick on the new meat, alright chummers?

That said Reporter, G-City isn't full of hooders and saints. Not every one out there is a good g/u/rl. Watch your back, aim straight, and never ever trust someone whose suit is nicer that yours.

| Oh no, this never ends well. Alright- I'll throw in my advice. That gun of yours? Make sure you actually know how to use it. Keep it clean. Well maintained. All that. And get a better camera, ASAP.

| >>555601 Izakaya, huh? Interesting, I think I know the one. I'll check it out tonight. Again, thank you for your assistance, it will benefit us both in time.
>>555608 Good to hear, thank you!
>>555617 Will do. Thank you for the advice.
-Cody Foss

| At the Izakaya now, waiting to speak to someone.
-Cody Foss

Hey. Go further in. I have eyes on you from the furthest booth on the left side of the building.
-Zantetsuken

| Word of advice OP- invest in some decent body armor, discreet if possible, and plate if possible.

Don't want ANOTHER starry-eyed reporter dragging themselves to death with a belly wound, right? ;)
