K-On! the first season was great, but really short. First year lasted 8 eps, while second year lasted 4 eps. Then, as if to compensate on missing the opportunity to milk it, K-On!! revolves around the cast in their third year for 2 seasons. Everything is made doubly or more times more dramatic than necessary. They actually managed to fill it with even more nothing. And characters began to just devolve into nothing but generic moe trash. No life at all. Unless that's your tjing. End

I gave up at ep 4 when they made an entire episode revolve just around Ritsu getting bored with the drums. It was a cringefest all the way through.

Disregard everything these two posters said.
k-on is really good. Fantastic actually. It's a moe slice of life and that's exactly what you should expect, nothing more. However, if that's your thing then K-ON is one of the best in the genre

When people say that K-On! is about nothing, it's the absolute proof that they're fucking retarded.
K-On! is a show about characters doing daily things, as any slice of life. If it's not your cup of tea, don't watch it. If it is, it doesn't get any better than this. Deep characters with great development, and plenty of time to get invested on them. When approaching the end of the series I cried. I cried the 3 times I watched it.
So yeah, it all comes down to how invested you are.

Fucking sensitive faggots. I still stand by what I said. First season is great, go watch it. Enjoy the second and third if you're an imbecile who only sees things for how cute they are. Ideally, the seasons should be on the same pace as Lucky Star, but thats not the case. First one feels a bit rushed, though that comes with its own charm, while the rest are excruciatingly slow, hence the 'filled with more nothing' statement of mine earlier.

Not only that, but K-On!!'s attempt at moe falls even below idol anime. I've tried 3 times to watch it and ep 4 always pisses me. They had Ritsu crying for no reason, cut off by advertisement, then next scene be like "Ey yo, I'm cool I just wan be in da spotlight too." The dialogue from then on is extra cheesy. And then at the end of it, they slowly zoom in at Ritsu slowly smiling as she slowly realizes she really likes drums while really emotional music plays. I drop here always.

I couldn't find it in myself to watch it. Although I love Mugi's character design, I couldn't continue just for that. Meanwhile Hibike Euphonium actually managed to keep me interested long enough for stuff to kick off.
K-On! Is one of the only shows to make me break my "3-episodes at least rule" cuz they didn't keep me interested enough past the second episode.

>>99547 K-On!! is not an attempt at moe. Is an attempt at slice of life. Completely different. That episode with Ritsu is fucking great. Know why? 'cause that's how Ritsu fucking thinks.
Like I said before, if you don't pay attention aka you're a speedwatcher, don't even bother. These characters have too many layers for you to get'em.

>>99601 >>not an attempt at one >>show completely centered around cute girls doing cute things
I don't think you know what moe is. That show 100% attempted to slip moe into their characters attributes, personality, and reactions
But here's the thing, we need to care about the characters before you start adding to them. Create a situation that we can sympathize with. Their club disbanding could have been implemented earlier or maybe show why the club was made in the first place.

>>99627 >Why the club was made in the first place Confirmed speedwatcher, don't pay attention to this anon.

>>99647 If you had read what I wrote, and are able to comprehend context ques, you can see that I was saying to make you vested in the character from the very start, we needed something to help us connect with the character. As a creator, you have to make the viewer connect with the character before you develop it.
The show was so boring the first 2 episodes that I dropped it then and there. You can't say an anime is good if it takes half the season to BE good.
How do you speedwatch an anime? How was your 24 minute episodes longer than the rest of ours?

>>99694 Anon, the creation of the club is explained in the first episode. >>99695 Speedwatcher is someone who doesn't pay attention.

>>99780 to be fair, there's explaining and then there's showing. A character can look back on something and say it (snore) or they can have A flashback and we can see the emotions tied to the event (way better). A more dramatic reason for the creation of the club also wouldn't have hurt.

>>99783 Anon. The event is shown. In a rather comedic way, I must add. And not all things need a fucking dramatic beggining. The club was started because Ritsu is a hotheaded girl with no capability of thinkng two steps ahead of herself. And that's just great.

>>99785 Just out of curiosity, have you watched Hibike Euphonium? Did you like it? Cuz I liked that one quite a bit.

>>99792 Yes, I've watched it, and I think it's great too, but in another way. I also think they went overboard with the yuribait, wich makes the show less enjoyable in retrospect, but that's another thing.
I still prefer K-On, however, because the way the characters are explored is kind of better in my eyes. It's a "slowly but surely you'll get to understand them". By half of season 2, I was already so on-board with the characters that I dreaded the perspective of the show ending

>>99795 although I enjoyed Hibike way more, I 100% agree on the yuri bait thing. I just wanna watch friends being friends.

It matters to show how try hard and cancerous the fanbase are, despite the show is probably the opposite of that, seeing how laid back it is
It also show the inability to accept other people's opinion/perspective
No, I do what I want

>>99783 Thats not the kind of show K-On! is. Their focus (at least initially) was more on the light-hearted comedic daily life moments. Very few events extend over many episodes besides the events. That was my main gripe with the show. It suddenly shifted tones in the new seasons, and in a way I really didn't enjoy. If you enjoy things with a heavier atmosphere, fine, but not me.

I imagine new viewers be like:
>God, I SURELY want to watch this anime, just look at how vicious the fans are! I mean, I hope I will like the show, because if I don't I'll get shit on by these people.
It's for the show's own good that you don't defend it that much. And when you start insulting others, you'll get insult thrown at you. It will quickly decrease the quality of the thread. You want a thread about your fav show filled with fanbase war? Well, it's up to you.

You're trash who doesnt even bother herself (or able) to make somewhat decent rebuttals, resorting to one liners insulting the other person rather than retorting.

I wouldn't say the entire fanbase is like this. It's only one anon after all. But K-On! admittedly does have it's fair share of diehard fans, as with any other show, although a bit more than others.
