Made in Abyss, anyone?
| Yeah, I been following the anime for some years now, and also the manga cause I can't bring myself to wait for an anime.
The mangaka is a weirdo but the worldbuilding is so interesting, I can't get enough.
| One of my favorites of all time, for sure. Sometimes the child nudity gets a bit too blatant, but otherwise not something that takes away the story.

| The anime (S1, movie, S2) has been excellent, but the one tiny critique I have is that you don't get to hear the individual tracks in the soundtrack too much. Like, they only play a few seconds of a three-minute track, that kind of thing. It doesn't detract, it's just that the soundtrack is so good I want to listen to more of it.

| it's super cool worldbuilding but the pacing is maybe the second worst/least consistent of any anime I've seen. season two was incredibly slow compared to s1, to the point that s2 kinda feels like filler. on the other hand it's really unique, it stands out from other fantasy anime. the headstrong, competent mcs are also a nice alternative to the standard shonen protagonist type. overall I rate it pretty highly!
| Also the compositor, Kevin Penkin, is so good that I stopped reading the manga to enjoy the anime adaptation with his sountracks.
The monsters' design is also top notch, it's refreshing. One of the best anime ever !
