Manga vs literally anything else

| Do you guys read anything else besides Japanese animaymays? During my time here overseas, I'm shocked when I go to libraries or comic shops to find the amount of Western drawn content that I never heard about. Stuff outside of corporate superhero franchises. Lots of gems online with Tapas, Line Webtoons, and other independent sites, too. But they just don't get much attention if any.

| Could you name a few of those gems I find that western material is usually conservative in its stories. It is reluctant to approach politically incorrect subjects that you see in typical shonen manga, like rape, murder and in general failure. I have read good western books about these subjects but would like to read good webtoons.

| I haven't found much Western comic that I enjoy. They usually are too comedic, and I would enjoy Western comedy, but prefer them in animated and voiced form.

| When they aren't too comedic they are too nihilistic: Characters are introduced in bulk just so they can killed off quickly--contrast to Manga where a character death requires an entire arc of buildup or a tragic backstory to complement it. Again this is fine but I prefer this type of content in audiovisual form where the immersion makes up for the lack of dramatization that Manga have.

| There are a few indie Western stuff that I enjoy though and they usually come with a finer blend of comedy and "angst", or just straight up having more manga feel both in writing and art style.

For webtoon I can enjoy some. Delivery Knight is a nice one for example. That said I just can't justify digital subscription just yet. I can't pay for service where only 2-3 stuff I would read, and I don't want to lose access if I decide to stop paying. I just prefer books is all.

| There's a lot of original western indie webcomics, I've been reading two that started recently:

"Soul Beacon of the Netherworld" by temmie chang, she's truly an amazing artist and is quite famous among the indie gaming area, for her works in "Undertale" and "Deltarune", and she created beautiful short games too!

"Death Clown" by onegrumpylumpy, a Newgrounds artist!

Both these webcomics are just starting recently, but I'm looking forwards to read more of them.

Keep searching!
