In defense of the ".5" or "recap" episodes
| I think they can also just be done well and be as good as a new episode. Re:Creators has a recap episode (conveniently at a spot I took a small break from the show) and made it genuinely entertaining. Most recap episodes make it clear it's a recap right away, but this one didn't and took me a bit to even realize, as given the nature of the show is kinda an abridged recap which was just fun.
| You know anime is pretty common in japan? So many titles aired on a single channel, recap episodes are a necessity, so you won't mix guts and kirito into the same universe
| They can def be useful but the first few eps of hxh had like 3 recap eps that covered them being in the same room for 4 eps

| I personally hate it when in the middle of a season a show drops an "episode 7.5 recap" of episodes 1-7. Nothing is worse than expecting a new episode only to get that shitm however, I think they have a time and place, and that's as optional episodes released with each new season. Rusty on last season a year later and wanna skim it again before watching the newest episode? Got ya covered
