Am I the only one who prefers the Death Note Netflix adaption than the Japanese movies?

| I just enjoy more the stupidity and lack of self awareness in the Netflix film than the Japanese adaptations, the Netflix live action it's perfect to play with the girls and just laugh at how ridiculous it is

| Can't say about the movie, but I did a lot of laughing at how ridiculous the og series is too

| All live action of Death Note is shit, so preferring the dumbest, funniest one makes sense.

| As someone who only likes the first half of Death Note and doesn't worship it, I thought the movie was alright. I think its better than like 99% of Live action adaptations from either Japan or hollywood. I wish they had kept Light as more of a clever schemer, but I don't mind how they changed it from being very Japanese to be very American in its themes.

Light as a character IS Death Note though. In the manga/anime his only motivation is his own opinion of justice, nobody has actually wronged him. He's a fucking genius. He worked with Misa reluctantly but still used her to his advantage etc.

In the movie he's just a little bitch who can't do shit on his own who just misses his mom and gets manipulated.

I'm not saying the movie can't be enjoyed, I just don't see the appeal compared to the manga/anime.
