By that I don't mean the joking "triggered" as in pissed off, but genuinely triggered. As in an anime or manga triggering flashbacks, depression, anxiety, shit like that.
It recently happened to me, so I'm curious if this is common or not.

Well my Dad killed himself, so whenever I see someone kill themselves on screen, especially if they shoot themselves, it ruins my mood possibly for the whole day, but I kinda hate the term 'triggered'. It's been taken over by people who just don't want to feel uncomfortable ever.

I kind of tend to feel the opposite, namely not being angry or pissed but quite relating to the characters, as if I project me being in a similar situation. If they end up happy, then I become happy. Otherwise I feel very sad and remember all bad decisions and situations I ended up in. Franxx was one example of it with Hiro feeling dejected at his inability to fight or be good with any partner, but that’s also a big stretch from my mind.

>>648617 I think we shouldn't dismiss the term just because some people use it incorrectly. Triggered is the actual word for it.
>>648628 Angry and pissed is not what triggered means, as I explained.

I've seen recently a review, where my favorite character from my favorite anime was chewed out by lgbretards and classified as queer. I'm not reading reviews anymore.
>>648617 I've seen people committing suicide (snd attempting) twice in my life. Somehow i have no problem with that.

>>648732 Yeah, but I don't see what getting pissed at an anime review has to do with anxiety.

I wouldn't know about traumatic anything, but there has been a few occasions where I would burst into tears for reasons unrelated to the story. Latest example was this scene at Gantz where an old man was struggling to survive but memories of his late spouse made him want to "let it go" and "join" her. It's a bit hard to explain how it's relevant to me but I suppose I used to be religious (still living in that environment), and I'm struggling with a newfound lack of "afterlife".

...that or it's because my grandparents died recently and my final memories with them wasn't the best. Idk, maybe I'm reaching and just want to share my weakness.

>>648782 No, not at all. This is the type of stuff I was curious about. Was kind of similar what happened to me, in that it triggered something in me that wasn't directly related to the story and fucked me up. I'm sorry about your grandparents.

I got triggered one time when I was watching 3-gatsu The scene when the main character (rei) was patching up momo's wounds and then had a flashback and started crying. For some reason that really hit me hard since I've had alot of moments in my life and honestly they still keep happening to me to this day.
