| I kinda want to point out that "burning the place pretty badly" is an understatement. the suspect apparently set exits and fire exits on fire which could only mean he intended to take the lives of everyone in the building. Nothing short of terrorism.

| The perpetrator blocked every single fire exit and set the fire at the main entrance, essentially turning it into a deathtrap. He wasn't an employee or ex-employee, just some worthless otaku who was apparently screaming stuff along the lines of "they ripped me off", so it's probably a motherfucker with mental issues who did it because of how they treated his waifu or some shit.
I'm sure many will be hapoy to know that capital punishment is legal in Japan.

There would always be some mentally unstable person trying to hurt people or pull off some crazy stuff.
The problem is that usually they are stopped by security personel. The fact that he managed to pour so much gassoline and bring sharp objects inside as an outsider, already tells that the security is not well managed and should be improved in the future.

So an arsonist attacked KyoAni and burned the place pretty badly. Lots of injuries and at least one death have been reported so far. Hope there's no more deaths but from the sounds of things there probably is. Shits fucked.
